TORRANCE, CA – Sakura Finetek USA, Inc. today announced the launch of the Tissue-Tek Prisma® Plus Automated Slide Stainer, making the already fastest histology slide stainer in the industry faster to 530 slides per hour.

“Like its predecessor, the Tissue-Tek Prisma® Automated Slide Stainer, with several thousand units installed worldwide, Tissue-Tek Prisma® Plus continues to be the slide stainer of choice for large commercial laboratories and hospitals”, said George R. Kennedy, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Sakura Finetek USA.  “We are proud of the performance data for the Prisma stainer family which confirms best-in-class reliability with industry leading Mean Time Between Repair of greater that 52 weeks.  This product is simply unmatched in our industry”.

New software features
In addition to increasing the speed to 530 slides per hour to better address peak slide throughput demand, new key software features have been added to gain flexibility, versatility and maximize uptime.  New software enhancements include the ability for the user to now choose between 50 stain reagent colors to better identify and differentiate them when displayed on the user interface.  This is especially useful when running multiple protocols at the same time.

Integrated barcode and documentation
To track the soon-to-be released Sakura Finetek Tissue-Tek Prisma® H&E Stain Kit #1, the company has added a new barcode scanning system to the Prisma Plus to scan stain kits and components and automatically log this information into the system software.  This new feature improves documentation and helps laboratories to more easily comply with CAP and other inspection agency requirements of logging stain lot numbers, when stains are put in/out of use, track expiry dates and receive alerts.

New Tissue-Tek® iSupport for remote diagnostics
The Prisma Plus now offers Tissue-Tek iSupport, the latest software technology in remote diagnostics and monitoring.  iSupport enhances the user experience by assisting in providing the quickest service response possible to your laboratory for maximum uptime and minimal downtime.

Fully Automated Staining and Coverslipping System
By connecting the Prisma Plus with either the Tissue-Tek Film® Coverslipper or the Tissue-Tek® Glas™ g2 Coverslipper, laboratories can today create an integrated, fully automated walkaway staining process from slide baking to slide drying.
