TORRANCE, CA – Sakura Finetek USA, Inc. today announced the launch of 3 new ready-to-use antibodies for the Tissue-Tek Genie Advanced Staining System.
“We’re pleased to introduce four new ready-to-use antibodies for the Tissue-Tek Genie Advanced Staining System. These additions further strengthen our portfolio of 165 antibodies by expanding diagnostic support across soft tissue neoplasms and sarcomas, gastrointestinal, gynecology and urologic pathology”, stated William Jennings, MBA, Senior Product Manager of Advanced Staining.
“The anti-Caldesmon antibody is a highly specific biomarker of smooth muscle differentiation. High-molecular-weight Caldesmon (h-Caldesmon) offers greater specificity than α-smooth muscle actin (ASMA), desmin, and calponin for evaluating spindle cell neoplasms, particularly soft tissue and vascular lesions. It is also valuable for classifying uterine mesenchymal tumors and has shown high sensitivity for pleural epithelioid mesothelioma,” said Dr. Rina DeCamillis, Vice President of Sakura Biosciences.
“STAT6 is a highly sensitive and specific marker for solitary fibrous tumors. Nuclear STAT6 expression is observed in 95–100% of cases but is typically absent in other spindle cell neoplasms, including schwannomas, leiomyosarcomas, and leiomyomas,” she added.
“Glypican-3 (GPC3) is expressed in approximately 69–89% of hepatocellular carcinomas (HCC) and is absent in 88–100% of non-neoplastic liver tissues, making it a valuable marker for distinguishing HCC from benign liver lesions. GPC3 is also diffusely expressed in 95–100% of yolk sac tumors while remaining absent in seminomas and most ovarian carcinomas, supporting its role in the differential diagnosis of germ cell tumors,” stated Dr. DeCamillis.
“All three antibodies achieved optimal performance ratings in NordiQC external quality assessment programs,” continued Dr. DeCamillis.
- Tissue-Tek Genie® anti-Caldesmon Mouse Monoclonal Antibody [ZM79]
- Tissue-Tek Genie® anti-STAT6 Rabbit Monoclonal Antibody [EP325]
- Tissue-Tek Genie® anti-Glypican-3 Mouse Monoclonal Antibody [1G12]
Similar to the wide range of antibodies launched previously, these new antibodies are provided in 2 formats to serve any laboratory size and workflow:
- Innovative single-use capsules to load any slide, any stain, any time, on any instrument.
- Cartridges with 250 tests for high volume usage.
About the Genie System
Quality that excites. Sakura Finetek partnered with NordiQC (www.nordiqc.org), a world-leading external quality assurance institute, to assure optimal stain quality for our entire menu of antibodies. The species and clones of Genie antibodies have been carefully selected and proficiently developed to meet our rigorous standards. The stain protocols for Genie antibodies provide exceptional sensitivity and specificity, enabling pathologists to assess patients’ specimens accurately.
Stop sorting, gain time. With its 30 fully independent staining stations, the Genie stainer offers true random access and does not slow down when more slides are added. Users can eliminate time-consuming slide sorting or grouping, and instead simply load their next most important slide or case.
Flexibility that liberates. Laboratories can use Genie’s unique and innovative single-use capsules for antibodies or probes and load them on Genie’s independent staining stations together with the slides. The 250-test Genie Pro Detection Systems (DAB, AP Red, DUO) and antibody cartridges are loaded onto the stainer’s carousel, which deliver the reagents in constant timed cycles guaranteeing predictable workflow. The Genie system enables laboratories to realize flexibility, better economy, and faster turnaround time.
Fast to learn, easy to operate. The Genie Software uses intuitive graphics and two mouse-click navigation for simplified operation and provides a comprehensive status at a glance. The replacement of bulk reagents and waste bottles is quick and strain-free.
