NKX3.1 protein down regulates growth of epithelial cells in prostate tissue and plays a critical role in suppressing prostate carcinoma. NKX3.1 is expressed predominantly in prostate epithelium and is also found in testis, ureter, pulmonary bronchial mucous glands, salivary gland, and some cases of ductal and lobular breast carcinoma. NKX3.1 is a highly sensitive and specific marker for prostate adenocarcinoma.
Tissue-Tek Genie<sup>&reg;</sup><br /> anti-NKX3.1 Diffuse strong nuclear reactivity and weak cytoplasmic reactivity is present in this prostate adenocarcinoma.

No reactivity for NKX3.1 is present among the epithelial cells or the elements of the lamina propria in this sample of appendix.

Scattered spermatogonia show a weak to moderate nuclear staining reaction for NKX3.1. Background elements, such as Sertoli cells and Leydig cells are negative.
